This Sunday, the Mafia will be in Kirkland getting the start of our race season on at the  MFG Cyclocross Cycle U Kick-Off Cross. We may or may not look like this:

Lets Go Racing

Its mid July, its cold, its windy, there is a threat of rain.  Sounds more like fall, eh?  Well fall means cross racing, and what better thing to do on a mid summer fall day, than load the cross gear up and head out and race.  Raleigh Bikes and MFG Cyclocross, threw a little event in our back yard on the 21st.  The lovely support staff accompanied #1 and #2 to said event, where after figuring out the pile of shit parking logistics, there was some racing to be had.  There was plenty of beer and food to be had.  First race had Ken rolling around with the cat 4 40+ guys for 35 min, on a very rough, very dusty course.  He finished 19 seconds back in 2nd place.  After a bit of rest, food and beer, the single speed bike was pulled out for another 45 min of pain.  The results were not so pretty, with a broken front brake and 1 lap down, but thankful for mid race beer hand ups.  Mikey took to the course with the 1/2s for his hour of hell on the course.  Unfortunately a trip to the ground and a mechanical set his tone for the day.  But hey, its July.  We got to race cross in July, and that right there is all that matters.  My legs hurt today.

Kits, we have them.

They came in and have been distributed.  These are hot hot hot.  The arm/leg/knee warmers are outrageous and incredible.  They have been on the town already.  A large group of us turned out kitted up for the canyon for a day ride on Sunday.  Lots of compliments, lots of interest.  I think the ones that the shop have are almost sold out, so a re-order may be coming soon.  Jersey/arm warmers mostly.  There will be two running these at the Moses Lake duathalon Memorial day weekend, and a couple more at the Levenworth bike and brew fest the following weekend.  The summer is going to rock, leading into cross season this fall.

People have been doing things....

Over the weekend, looks like we have been getting out and doing things. Getting our runs on, getting our cross bikes on, getting the mountain bikes on, being lab rats, and all while not drinking beer. Most all of which has photo evidence here

There were Saturday shenanigans up Lions Rock with a road climb to 4100' in Feb. (Its snowing again now btw). Mike, Germ, Eric (dick) and the prettiest girl with a beard partaking of sunshine and punishing climbs.

IH Trail from Thorp by sbrellensburg at Garmin Connect - Details , as told by Meg, who I passed while I was on a run on Sunday. Let me tell you I would have much rather been on my cross bike for 11 miles than running for 4 in 40 degree weather, but oh well. Eric, Germy & others were working their 24" gearing as well

Monday had the miscreants (Mike, Eric (dick) and ?) out in Naneum doing dirt related bike things. I being of generous nature finished my lab rat duties with a body comp and VO2 test that damn near wrecked me for the rest of the day.

So yeah, no fun was had and no beer was consumed
